Description
AUSCB’s new Mid-Compact Magnetic Base 5/8λ UHF CB Antenna elevates handheld radio performance by relocating the broadcast point to the vehicle’s exterior. This placement eliminates cabin-related signal obstruction and utilises the vehicle’s metal surface as a ground plane, ensuring significantly crisper and clearer transmissions.
Tuned to the Australian UHF CB Band – unlike some generic magnetic antenna styles that are not or don’t actually tune anywhere.
Gain: 3.3dBi (4.85dBq by RFI methodology)
SWR <1.5:1 @ 477MHZ
Overall length 375mm
Rated 25W
The system features 3.25m of premium RG316 50 ohm coax, terminated with a SMA-F fitting to suit the Sierras, and a SO239 73mm Magnetic Base mount (to suit the PL259 antenna base). The SMA-F fitting will also suit the original AUSCB, Uniden UH755/785 and GME TX6600S. Can be used with an in-car Mobile CB when used with the correct SMA to PL259 adapter (not supplied) as a typical ‘plug and play’ system.
The slim cable type is designed to tuck elegantly into door seals and interior lining, offering a cleaner installation than standard RG58 coax. It is also easier for connecting to handheld radios. This specific length is calculated to provide an optimal standing wave ratio for peak accuracy and performance.
The Magnetic Base features a robust, epoxy-sealed aluminium housing for superior durability compared to standard plastic alternatives. Despite its modest 73mm diameter, the high-strength magnet ensures a secure mount at highway speeds*, while the integrated rubber boot protects your vehicle’s finish. For added versatility, the flexible antenna element is designed to withstand impact and can be easily detached from the base when required.
Note that the SMA fitting does not need to be done up tight to the antenna socket, just a gentle stop is all that is required. Always hold the fitting, not the cable. Avoid kinking the cable.
* Must be placed on a flat part of the metal roof, with the minimum amount of coax exposed. Torrential rain whilst travelling at high speed may cause slippage. Not intended as a permanent fixture.
